Geek DayTM is an
all-day, private, Technology Event held annually in St. Louis, MO.
-
- The event concept was created by, is planned and hosted by
Server Centric Consulting,
an all-tech IT Professional Services firm specializing in Virtualization,
Optimization and Access. This year is the fourth annual event, and attendance has grown rapidly, each year,
since the very first Geek DayTM
held in the old Missouri Athletic Club downtown in 2004.
The genesis for the day came from a desire we had (back when we were in
the field or in the cube) doing the jobs you are doing now. We
often wished we had a huge lab so we could test all the solutions we
were researching...we wanted to fearlessly compare vendor products
side-by-side...we wanted direct access to the techs and developers at a
vendor - to ask them questions - pick their brains - ...we wanted
some big wheel at the manufacturer to come up to the middle of the
country and explain why their product or solution was best for us.
-
Sure we had the tech shows - but it was all marketing and fluff
and trick or treating for tech people.
-
We wanted a real Geek Day...and that just didn't exist...
-
So - we decided to make
one...for our clients, partners, and associates.
-
The event is designed for the Business IT Professional from the
Administrator position all the way
up to the C-Level folks. We hide your
identity (so you don't get spammed out of existence) and you control
who gets your information if you are interested in learning more.
-
There is no
cost to attend Geek DayTM, registration,
survey and confirmation are required for
admittance to the venue.
Geek DayTM is unlike any technology event you have ever
attended in that there is no 'showfloor,' no fancy vendor booths with do-nothing chotchkies and bags full of
literature for you to drag around and then never read.
No; this is
a primo tech event created for Geeks by Geeks.
Imagine a huge lab full of servers and SANS, lined with enormous
and beautiful plasma screens, featuring all the newest ideas and
solutions, actually running right there - just for you.
-
White coated Tech Geeks
from the hardware and software manufacturers are flown in
for you, and await your
every question.
Yes
you can drive it - push it - try to break it - in a lab made
just for you.
Want to compare competing products side-by-side? -
yes, you can.
- Past vendors in the Geek Lab have been:
Acronis,
AMD, Citrix, DataCore, eG Innovations, EqualLogic, Intel, Kingston,
Microsoft, Novell, PlateSpin, Provision Networks, rPath, RSA,
Scalent, Softricity, ThinPrint, Tricerat, VirtualIron, Virtugo,
Vizioncore, VMware, WebBots, Wyse, XenSource, and Xiotech.
- We've had some really
impressive speakers (like Mendel Rosenblum, Chief Scientist at
VMware) and had some amazing product announcements
(like the Vanderpool Chipset) and amazing prizes (like Wii, and
SlingBox, and the ever-popular proximity protecting missile launcher
USB cube defender) and at our little ole Geek Day. But don't
come just for the prizes. If you are there for drawings
only - we will be able to smell you and will prevent you from
winning. I am not kidding...don't think I am.
The day is also filled with heavy tech education from those same
vendors. There are 3
speaking rooms with break-outs running non-stop...all day - just for you.
The biggest criticism we get is that it goes too fast - that it
should be 2 days long - but we just can't do that any more than you
can afford to give up 2 days to do it. So in order to get all
the content into one day, we don't repeat any of the breakouts.
That means you need several people to attend if you want to get the
information from every breakout.
During luncheon we will present the 'Excellence in
Technology Awards' in the categories of Access, Virtualization, and
Optimization to client companies pushing the envelope in ingenious and
daring ways. Following the award ceremony we will have a short
'ask the Experts' session where you can chat with your peers from all
the Excellence in Technology winners and find out how they accomplished
and achieved in their organizations. Past award winners are AG
Edwards, Whitfield School, Ameren, Washington University School of
Medicine, and GEHA.
If you are located somewhere other than St. Louis, MO
we invite you to register and attend. It will most certainly be
worth your time and travel expense. Last year we had attendees
from 3 countries, and 11 states. Encourage your tech provider to
contact us to find out about our FrienemyTM
Program. We are happy to work with your partners. We will
gladly sign a no-compete and a non-solicitation so they feel comfortable
in attending with you. A more knowledgeable tech community is good
for everyone. Seriously - call Jeanne at 888 747-4700 to talk
about the program and find out how easy it is to work with us.
Don't wait!
Register now. This event will fill up and we
will close registration prior to the date.
