Hotshot Daredevil & Programming Prodigy!
Virtualization is a great enabling technology. Today we are asking it to do much more than simply monitor and alert – today we measure its success in terms of Application Quality of Service (QoS) and expect it to scale to the largest of environments.
Because of these requirements, it’s no longer acceptable to simply ‘react’ to an event – we must ‘prevent’ them from happening. It’s no longer acceptable to simply ‘load-shed’ (commonly mislabeled ‘load-balancing’) - we must in the absence of any specific problem or event take, in a holistic fashion, those steps necessary to assure Application QoS even when there aren’t enough resources to go through a traditional ‘balancing’ activity.
This presentation will look at those specific cases where traditional ‘resource scheduling’ fails to meet our new criteria and looks at some of the strategies that can be used to build resiliency into the environment and maintain the all important Application QoS. Participants will gain a better understanding of the exact mechanisms commonly used in the industry to try to address these issues and see an implementation of these preventative strategies in real-time with VMTurbo.
